Grande Dame Presents Electric Crazyland 2!

Friends & Comrades! The show at The St Leonard Pub is going so swimmingly, I decided to go ahead and let the buyers collect their pieces. And beginning of Oct I will do a lil switch around and replace the ones that sold with some other works!

Including my very first light – the piece were it all began – THE ELECTRIC CRAZYLAND LIGHT! Designed by myself and made by legendary lords of light, the world famous – GOD’s OWN JUNKYARD!!! WOW!!! Only 3 of these babies were ever made. And only 1 available! Come & bask in her magical glowy illuminations!
Seeing that there will be a rearrange with new pieces, it’s a perfect excuse for a party! Myself and Jo Perfect will be playing groovy sounds from way out! And there will also be a draw with a chance to win a signed print! Woo! So if you are in the area Thurs Oct 5th – COME DOWN AND PARTY! oxo gd

Basking In The Blacklight…

Totally blown away from last Fridays PV for The Last Summer at 111 Minna Gallery! For one – it looks so AMAZING!!! The UV has totally blown me away! Just looking at my work under the black light, brings me back to my childhood, and all those days staring at “Aint Gonna Work On Dizzy’s Farm No More” in the family Music Room. Who knew, decades later it would still be influencing me!
SLUV Shady Ladies in The UV! How effin cool???
A&MUV Almost & Maybe’s in Black Light. OMG!!!
SideEye So many friends came out to show their support! Was really touched by all the love! Old friends who I have known for decades! And new friends too! All the work, by all the artists looks incredible! Minna did a stellar job! Was a great night all way around, and I even managed to sell a few things! Yay!

Tonight is the big night! The Last Summer Group show at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco officially opens! Woo! Yesterday I went down to do a lil interview and was truly blown away by the way it was all arranged!
And the lighting guys surprised me with black light spots!!! OMG! That is what I wanted to have at my Brighton show, but the UVs I bought weren’t strong enough… These babys are SUPER MEGA!!! WOW! The vid projections look cool too! And I am so honored to hang my work alongside the stellar work of the other artists involved – Jamie Bizness & Caroline Weaver, & Mildred & Pacolli… And humbled to come back to my former home and show my work in such a lovely, amazing space! yay!
I am going to be there from 6-9PM selling comics, blotters & box sets… But after 9ish – I will be packing up the shop and letting my hair down, cos it’s a full on disco party tonight – with First Fridays!-with Disco Dianna & Miss Iggy. It’s gonna go off tonight! Woo! See you then! oxo gd

Shattered Flattered & Humbled…

Wow! What can I say? There are no words to describe the gratitude I have for all the people who helped me achieve this small monument of my work! I will not lie. I feel awful! War torn, like I just got back from Afghanistan. I am bruised, bloodied and broken, my voice is 5 octaves lower and I would give anything to have cuticle transplants! But the show came out even better than I imagined! I nearly gave myself a stroke putting it together. I don’t know why I do it to myself, but to me perfection is a life or death struggle, if things are not exact I will just die! Ha Ha! Luckily it did turn out perfect! Mainly because of Dan Hipkin at ink_d Gallery & Vaughan Williams of Tindogs Fine Art! They, like me are OCD on things being exact and they both went above & beyond the call of duty to help me achieve my vision – with out them, my show would not have been up to the same standard! Also I am so humbled by the turn out of everyone who came down to support me! It was a brilliant PV! Thank you all for coming down and celebrating with me! And I am happy to report that I have made sales! So yay! Bonus! I started creating things as a way to stave off depression. If I create something I like, it makes me feel better, if other people like it, that is a bonus! And if they want to buy it, it’s a double bonus! So it’s a nice feeling to come full circle and see my hard work and dedication was not a waste of 5 years, that this is my bonafide career! So Wow! Just Wow! Lastly I want to say a big thank you to my wonderful mother, without your support, none of this would have been possible! Thank you mamma for encouraging me to go after my dreams! I love you! Ok, click the pix to launch the gallery! More pix soon! And don’t forget the show is up until Nov 9th at ink_d gallery 96 North Rd, Brighton, BN1 1YE oxo GD

One Month Countdown to My Show!

Wow! One month until my show opens! 5 years of work coming to an end… Kind of can’t believe it… 4 years ago I came up with the idea of doing an album art show. But didn’t really think I would do it. At the time I had only printed a couple of giclee prints, so my “art career” was in it’s infancy… Plus the animation thing was already a weighty albatross around my neck, so adding more work and tasks for myself kinda seemed insurmountable… But that is me, I like to challenge myself… I need to push myself to the brink with my work… If it doesnt nearly kill me, then it wasnt worth it… I am happy to announce nearly all my pieces are done… And I won’t lie, I am feeling quite pleased with myself! Anyhoo, here is a little sneaky peak at my pic – “When I’m Dead You’re Going To Love Me” & accompanying music! Enjoy! BTW – You can get your pre-orders for the album Vinyl Box Set & Comic here! All UK orders save on postage for the next few weeks! More soon –  plus some exciting announcements!! oxo GD
