Toodles 2017!

Thought I would do a little year end round up on here, since I barely post anymore. I think I have mentioned this before, but the more technology moves in an intrusive manner – tracking us, recording our convos and spamming us with ads etc… – the less I want to share my life online. Hence – sporadic posting. That being said – what a horrid fucking year it’s been! I do believe Elon Musk is right and we are in a simulated matrix! It’s the only thing that makes sense! Everyone’s mind is poisoned with – I cant even say his fucking name! – twitler. It is a disease. The GOP are as Noam Chomsky says “the most dangerous organization/ terrorist groups on the planet!” I can never forgive my old friends and family that voted for this garbage. Praying for a flip in 18. Political rants aside – it was an amazing year for me personally!
The Apple thing was mental. Did not see it coming, and BOOM my animations were all over the world constantly for months in every country on the PLANET! Made a few coins too, so that was cool – app is still avail ere for iphone users! GET IT!
Then Facebook came calling at the exact same time! It was crazy! All of the sudden I was in demand to the biggest most powerful companies on Planet Earth! WTF? Literally fell into that whole sticker thing by accident, but what a good accident to fall into! I even got sticker fans from it – yes it’s true – I have sticker fans! There is such a thing – it is real!

My gifs became world famous – I’ve now passed 72 million views – and growing! More people than all of the UK have seen my GIFS!! That is INCREDIBLE! If there is one area I have achieved world domination, it’s me gifs!

I got to meet George Clinton & we swapped Cazals! The KING OF FUNK! WOWWWWWW! I’m not worthy Garth! Was like meeting God.
My Carson McCullers short I presented at the acedemic conference at John Cabot University in Rome was a HUGE HIT! And I have more exciting news about this project coming soon – yippie!
And travelling around Rome & Barcelona with Mamma was the best trip of my life! We had so much fun!
But my highlight of the year most definitely has been my show at The St Leonard Pub. When the idea came about, I thought “it’s just a local pub show, no big deal, I’m not going to put a whole lot into it, as no one will buy anything.” My goddess – how wrong was I! To be fair, I did make a bunch of new work right before the opening. So I did put alot into it. Funny, when I first hung it up in the day time, I thought “ugh, I hate it! Looks just like I moved my flat in here.” But when I came back at night, it was a totally different place! The work really popped! And wow! Did I do sales! I’m pretty much out of everything but giclees at the mo! In fact it’s still up – comes down Jan 10th. Nearly a 5 month run! Incredible!

And the pub have made my video installation and a lightbox permanent!!! And have invited me back again for next year! But more than the sales, which really have been off the charts, getting to know the owners Phil and Chris, and all the regulars and locals who come in, and who bought my work – that has been brilliant! Sometimes it can be hard when you are on your own, walking into a full pub where you don’t know anyone – it can be quite intimidating. There were a few times before were I walked in and walked out, just cos I was by myself and felt awkward and alone. But now – I know everyone! I’m even on a pub quiz team! Ha! So it’s really been life changing. This has made me really feel part of the community. And as I said at the beginning – with technology destroying us, invading us, and tearing us apart – now is the time to go into our communities and really connect, because the social network experiment is a disaster!

So all in all I was sittin pretty in 2017, a much needed improvement from the previous year!!! But I had to work my ass off and fight to get many of my rewards, nothing was handed to me & I’m still fighting. And, if I can be honest, it was hard to enjoy my small success’ when I have seen so much suffering, and I know so many people are suffering at the hands of the worlds political powers. All I can do is continue to work hard, bring as much colour and joy to people, and hopefully make a living in the process. Maybe one day I can do something to help those who so desperately need it. So, that is my yearly rant! If you reached this point – much appreciated. Now get off the computer and go hug a person or animal now! Lots of Love & all the best in 2018! oxo GD

New Stickers for Electric Crazyland!

I switched up my app with some new fun stickers! Initially when the iphone ad dropped, I was told to use all the gifs that were featured. There were 12 in all, and at the time I had a job on. It all came about so quick, that I just grabbed a few more I thought would go, without really thinking of functionality. They were more fun than functioning… Anyhoo, I kept half of my set and swapped out the others for some new ones! A puking cyclops baby, an alien cheers, tears of a clown, an angry devil, a laughing devil, a peace sign, and BFF chihuahua’s! So now it’s not just trippy art for your messages, but you can say something too! If you do have it already, just click for the update. And if you don’t have it, click here or the pic to get it! only 99 cents! Come on! oxo GD

Who is the face of the new iphone7 campaign? Um ME!!!

Literally my face is in the ad, well, an animated version of my face – ha! OMG! I have been dying with anticipation to formally share the most exciting news of my life with the world!!! If you are unlike me and have a television, you may have seen the latest ad from Apple, showcasing their new feature for iphone with imessage animated stickers. And my work is all over it – Even in the main image! The Gorilla, Swamp Creature, and a little stripey fly on the girl’s shoulder. There’s tons more too!
Here are a few of my aliens from Weird Creatures of The Deep Game.
My hand from The Rebel vid and look there is my logo on the right! Not pictured – My lady in curlers, my fish and humming bird. There are probably loads more, but it all moves so fast.
These are some of the stickers I have available in my pack – Electric Crazyland. It was only last December I blogged about uploading some sticker packs to this app called imoji. It was at the urging of my friend Amelia Gregory, from Amelia’s Magazine. For months she bugged me to make them. After so many times, I relented, assuming like everything else, it would be a fruitless affair – HA! How wrong was I! Thank you Amelia! I even joked in that post about world domination in the sticker world, but I guess the universe heard me! Because now I’m a bonafide sticker star! OMG! So amazing to think, I taught myself animation on a mac, and now, years later, they are using my work to promote their new feature! Wow! And that is just the tip of the iceberg, I have lots more sticker news to share soon! So, if you are one of the 1 billion iphone users on the planet – stop sending boring smiley faces and be the coolest kid on the block with an animated Gorilla, aliens and more! And it’s only $.99! Affordable art for everyone! Big thanx to imoji, Giphy Arts, and Apple! Woo! Watch the ad below! Click the pix or here to get to the app store! More soon! oxo GD

R.I.P. Steve Jobs

A pioneer has left the earth. I don’t know where I would be right now if it wasn’t for the apple computer. I remember my school got given some of the first ones back in 1984. Only the super geeks used them, I wasn’t the least bit interested. All through high school, I steered clear away from the nerdy computer room. After I graduated and flip flopped around the states, my mom kept praising the value of computers. But I wasn’t buying it. “It makes uncreative people creative, not interested!” I told her. Then in 1994, my mom asked me what I wanted for christmas, my boyfriend at the time said “Tell her you want a computer!” So I said “I want a computer”, and I got my first mac. I got it, cos all my friends had one, and they could show me the ropes. He used it to play games and harass people online. I didn’t really use it too much, but I started to play around with drawing caricatures of people in photoshop using the mouse ( I still draw with the mouse!).

After my father died in 97, I moved to NYC and got a better mac, and spent a year really teaching myself things. How to record music, edit video, animate. It has enhanced my creativity ten fold. I can do the tasks that would normally take loads of people and years to do, all on my own! I often think of creative friends and family that died before the advent of computer technology, and think to myself “they would have LOVED this!”

R.I.P. Steve Jobs! Thank you for the innovations, and thank you for allowing me to further advance my ideas!
