5 MUST SEE DOCS!

BEAUTY IS EMBARRASSING
James St James from World of Wonder posted about this new doc – Beauty is Embarrassing – about the amazing artist & my new super crush – Wayne White. You may not be familiar with his name, but you certainly are with his work, esp if you were a big Pee Wee’s Playhouse Fan Like me! A quirky southern gentleman, puppeteer, animator, painter, musician – the perfect man basically! Def have to catch this one when it hits the UK’s shores!

Then I thought of all the other cool docs I want to see. So I thought I would make a little list to remind myself!!

THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES

The Queen of Versailles is a new doc about the Siegels. A tacky Florida family with too much money attempting to build the Florida version of the Palace of Versailles. During the filming the stock market crashed and they lost a good chunk of their money, construction was halted and the film turned to their challenges of economizing – hilarity ensues! A tale of modern vapid, vacuous greed. Riveting!

LAWRENCE OF BELGRAVIA
Lawrence of Belgravia is the story of the tortured genius behind bands – Felt, Denim, and now Go Kart Mozart. Despite becoming homeless and dependant on methadone, Lawrence is determined to become a big star! My song writing partner and keyboard player – Pete Z, was in Denim, & has told me many stories, so def want to see this!

MISSION TO LARS
Mission to Lars tells the story of Tom Spicer. Tom lives in a care home in Devon, England. He has a unique mental disability called Syndrome X. He is obsessed with heavy metal rock god and drummer for Metallica – Lars Ulrich. This is his journey to meet his idol.

THE WILD AND WONDERFUL WHITES

This came out a few years back and is the sequel to one of my all time fave docs – Dancing Outlaw – the story of the paranoid schizophrenic, glue huffing, Elvis impersonating, clog dancing legend of Boone County, West Virginia and my other big time crush – Jesco White. The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia, is a portrait on his dysfunctional family and their dealings with the law, drugs, fights, and death.

So, there you go! Make sure you check them out, and I will as well! Happy viewing! oxo gd
