Yay! I’m in the ZONE!

Apologies for sparse posting, but I’m in the ZONE! You don’t know how happy I am to be here. What is the Zone you ask? Well it’s this creative place I get to with animation where the ideas come together and there is a clear path to my vison. I have been working on my animated short sporadically for the last few months. And 2 weeks ago, I started to panic. “Why did I chose this? It’s too hard! It won’t read well! Why didn’t I do something easy? There is no way I can do this!” These thoughts played on repeat through my mind. Then I started playing around with the elements and piecing it in the timeline and now it’s clear this is going to work! YAY! It’s all I can think about. All I can talk about. Normally I like to fall asleep with the TV on, but when I’m in the ZONE, I need silence and darkness, so the images can play over & over in my brain until I drift off to sleep. I’m so excited! It’s hard to get to this stage in the process, but when I’m there, I don’t want to be anywhere else. I don’t care about politics, or current events, I don’t care about socializing, I forget to eat, sleep becomes rare, and I exist purely on my creative drive. It is like having this tunnel vison and until it’s done, I am strapped in. I was walking Boo Boo the other day and started talking about this short to another dog walker and the girl said “You need to finish it to get paid”, and I “said no, it’s not for work”. And she said “What? You’re doing it just for the love of it?” and Yes I guess I am. Being in the ZONE is amazing. It’s the most incredible feeling, when your ideas come together like you imagined. And that’s more than any job could give me. Hopefully people will watch it and dig the story. And who knows, for my next short, I might just get paid… oxo gd
